Recently it was announced that Texas Instruments (TI) and the United States Department of Commerce have reached a preliminary agreement for TI to receive $1.6 billion in funding towards three semiconductor manufacturing plants, one in Utah, and two in Sherman, TX. That’s less than an hour from Frisco, TX
In addition, TI is expected to receive $6-8 billion in from the Department of the Treasury, as well as an additional $10 billion for workforce development. All of this is to increase US based production which is desirable from an economic and national security position. Aside from the construction based jobs, he three plants should create an additional 2000 manufacturing jobs. So there are local benefits to Sherman, TX as well.
TI has already planned to invest about $18 billion in manufacturing by 2029, and these funds will no doubt go towards some (if not all) of that funding.
With DFW projected by some to be the largest metro area in the united states by the end of the century, it is no surprise to see Sherman, TX continuing to attract investment in the billions.
