Duff’s Wings In Southlake, TX

Duff’s didn’t invent the Chicken Wing, but many Buffalo residents believe they perfected them.

Ask 10 people in Buffalo where to find the best wings, and you will likely get 10 different answers. But one of those answers will be Duff’s. Duff’s has been around since the end of World War II, opening as a self described local “Gin Mill” in 1946. But in 1969, Duff’s served their first batch of what we know as “Buffalo Wings,” five short years after The Anchor Bar is credited with creating them.

Since then, they emerged as one of the Buffalo area’s most famous and popular places to order wings, Duff’s has six locations, five of which are in Western New York, and one in the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex, located in Southlake, TX.

The menu at Duff’s offers a lot of typical sports bar fare, with the added luxury of beers popular in the Buffalo area like Labatt’s, Molson Canadian, and Genesee Cream Ale. They also offer a “Beef On Weck” sandwich, which is best described as Buffalo’s very excellent take on a roast beef sandwich.

Duffs offers a variety of creative sauces and rubs for their wings. But if you want to order them in the style that made them famous in Buffalo, do it like this: “Wings Medium Hot, Extra crispy, with a side of bleu cheese.” That will get you a plate of authentic Buffalo Style chicken wings.

Here is a tip: In Buffalo, nobody calls them “Buffalo Wings” or even “Chicken Wings.” They just say “wings” and everyone knows what it means. Also, eating wings with ranch in Buffalo comes with the risk of being escorted to the Canadian Border, or worse, exiled to Pennsylvania. So order them with Bleu Cheese and save yourself the trouble.
